The Flu

It's been a quiet couple of days around here.  DH started getting achy a couple of days ago and it turned into the full blown flu.  I've been up and down with him and sore throat but it hasn't quite latched hold.  We've been laying around napping and watching episodes of Poirot and napping and reading and napping...

I've cranked up the OPC-3 doses, made homemade chicken soup with an added tea strainer full of ground rosehips for the extra vitamin C, and we've been staying hydrated.

We're normally pretty healthy and haven't gotten sick more than once a year or so.  When it hits, we're both miserable.  What do you do for the flu?

  1. This is my new favorite for when I am sick.

    Feeling Better Thyme Tea

    2 T peppermint (nausea & upset tummy)
2 T rosemary (high in antioxidants)
2 T thyme (soothes cough & sore throat)
2 T cut & sifted rosehips (high in Vitamin C)
2 T lemon peel (boosts the immune system)
    2 T lemon balm
    3 T Craisins

Mix well in food processor and store in air-tight jar. Use 1 tsp per cup of boiling water. Steep for 5 minutes. Add honey to taste. Sip throughout the day when you feel the onset of cold or flu. Store in freezer.

Hope you both feel better soon.
